Boston, MA (August 18, 2011) – William D. Umansky, partner and founder at the Umansky Law Firm has been recognized as a leader in the juvenile criminal law field by being selected as an author in the recently released book, Inside the Minds: Juvenile Criminal Defense Strategies, published by Aspatore Books, a Thomson Reuters business.

Inside the Minds: Juvenile Criminal Defense Strategies (ISBN: 978-0-314-27851-7) provides an authoritative, insider’s perspective on best practices for counseling juvenile clients. Featuring experienced criminal defense attorneys from around the country, this book guides the reader through the various types of cases juveniles are accused of and highlights the current issues that lawyers face when representing an underage client, including immigration matters, the “sexting” controversy, the prosecution of minors as adults, and the focus on rehabilitation versus punishment. These top lawyers discuss how juvenile clients differ from adult clients and how to collaborate with clients and families to develop a plan that meets everyone’s needs. From understanding evidence and using expert witnesses to negotiating on a client’s behalf and dealing with judges instead of juries, the authors also detail strategies that will take you through hearings, trials, and the inner workings of juvenile court. Finally, these leaders reveal helpful solutions to the challenges of juvenile cases, such as managing the emotional issues, developing a rapport with an adolescent, navigating an overburdened court system, and working on high-profile cases. The different niches represented and the breadth of perspectives presented enable readers to get inside some of the great legal minds of today, as these experienced lawyers offer up their thoughts on the keys to success within this dynamic field.

The Inside the Minds series provides readers with an unprecedented introspective look into the leading minds of the business and legal world.
