Orange County Sherriff deputies conducted a sting last week in the greater Orlando area and as a result over fifty men were arrested many on charges of travelling to meet a minor for sex. Most of the stings were originated on online chat rooms where deputies posed as mothers who were looking for partners to have sex with themselves and their child. These cases illustrate the fact that many alleged sex crimes are conducted over the internet and the Orange County Sheriff’s office have taken the lead in Orlando in prosecution of these cases. On the other hand, many of the individuals caught up in these stings allege that the police entrap them and there seems to be evidence that law enforcement does engage in online chats in an effort to catch people who may or may not be susceptible to that kind of behavior.
