Osceola County, Florida - County Sheriff's detectives conducted a campaign to find and arrest adults who actively enticed children to engage in sexual activity with them. The Sheriff's Office wishes to end all such activity that leads to the abuse of children.

During the campaign, detectives working undercover posed as children, or parents or guardians, of children. In these personas, the detectives used internet chat rooms to interact with adult men seeking to connect with underage children for the purpose of sex, or in some cases sell or purchase illegal drugs, or engage in other illegal activity.

The campaign aptly named "Spring Cleaning" ran from March 19 through March 25.

Spring Cleaning is a harsh name for a campaign that essentially will put dozens of individuals behind bars for an upwards of 30 years or more. Entrapment has come into questions numerous times from the other side of the law - lawyers in central Florida that intend to uphold the law and monitor the means in which law enforcement is conducting such stings.

The Osceola County Sheriff's Office is determined to protect children by ending these types of activities and intends to continue aggressive preventive campaigns for that purpose.

Sheriff Bob Hansell of Osceola County commented that it was extremely important for parents and guardians to monitor their children's activity on the Internet.

12 men were arrested during the campaign. The charges against all the offenders are serious and require the services of a sex crime lawyer. The accused individuals ranged in age from 23 to 50 years of age. One of the men was a registered sex offender. One had traveled from Brooklyn, New York. Three of the offenders live in Orlando and plan to speak with an Orlando criminal defense attorney. All were charged with Internet related sex crimes with children and, or drug related or other miscellaneous offenses.

Most certainly, because of the severity of these charges, these men will need an attorney that deals with sex stings.   Busts such as these happen quite often around central Florida.  Some others include  Operation Cyber Child,  and a  STARCOP Project that was conducted in Sumter County.
